One of my favorite things as a designer is when clients come to me with fresh, fun and unique ideas that really make me put my skills to use! This client had found her engagement ring in a gallery. The beautiful rose cut oval(ish) shaped stone in a thin band and unique setting.
She wanted a wedding band that wouldn’t over-shadow her engagement ring but would compliment it perfectly. So, I got to work! I proposed the idea of a few different design options (pictured below) and the client ended up loving design 1- the “negative space” band. The idea behind this was 1 to 3 bezel set round melee sapphires and a thin band to echo her engagement ring band but have the band stop at the stone.
Finding the stones for the band wasn’t the easiest task, with the endless options and colors of sapphire stones. We wanted it to match her stone as much as possible. Aqua vs. teal, vs blue, we had our work cut out for us! After going through a few options, the client ended up settling on three beautiful 3mm teal sapphires, and to our delight, they matched perfectly.
We absolutely love the finished piece. It’s so unique, classic, and looks stunning paired with the clients engagement ring.
